Q: What will I need to bring?
  • Please bring the following documents:
  • Insurance card and relevant documents
  1. Driver’s license
  2. Prescription from your doctor (only if you were referred by a physician).​​

Q: What should I wear?
​For your convenience it is best to wear casual loose clothing so that the areas being assessed are easily exposed for examination. Shoes suitable for exercise are also recommended. Gowns are also available.

Q: How long will each treatment last?
Each treatment typically lasts for 30-90 minutes per visit depending on the procedure and program.

Q: How many visits will I need?
The number of visits widely varies depending on the procedure, diagnosis, progression, and the individual. Please come in for a free consultation and we can provide you with an estimate.

Q: Are the treatments painful?
Our therapists are pain specialists and will avoid painful procedures whenever possible. However some treatments can be painful and our therapists will inform you of it and minimize the pain using natural methods whenever available. It is important to communicate any pain to our therapists so we can make your treatments as painless and comfortable as possible.

Q: How much will I have to pay out-of-pocket?
The amount paid out of pocket depends on the treatments, individual insurance plans, and coverage. Please contact us so we can verify your insurance and explain your benefits and financial responsibility before your first visit. If you do not have insurance coverage, discounted cash rates are available.

Q: Do I need to see a doctor before I go to physical therapy?
No. Newly passed Direct Access Laws permit you to see physical therapists without a physician referral. 

Q: What insurance carriers and payment forms do you accept?
We accept all major insurances including Medicare, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United Health Care, and many more. We also accept workers compensation, auto injury, and personal injury claims. As preferred providers for nearly all PPO, POS and EPO insurances in California, we can offer lower rates than other clinics in the region. ​
Q: What typically happens during my first visit?
  • You will need to complete some initial paperwork that we can assist you with. This will take 10 to 15 minutes to complete so keep that in mind when you come for your first appointment. You can also download the paperwork online and complete it before you arrive. ​
  • One of our highly skilled therapists will perform an initial evaluation consisting of: ​

  • Subjective Evaluation
    1. Any medications, tests, or procedures performed
    2. What your goals are for physical therapy
    3. How your daily activities are affected by your problems
    4. Pain intensity, aggravating or easing factors
    5. Your symptoms, problems, and complaints
    6. Your medical history

  • Objective Evaluation
    1. Palpation - Touch is used to determine sensitivity, tenderness, temperature, soft tissue integrity, swelling, inflammation
    2. Range of Motion – joints will be moved to check for quality of movement and any restrictions or pain
    3. Muscle Strength – muscle contraction strength and quality, pain and weakness will be evaluated
    4. Neurological Screening – tests are performed to check reflexes and see if the nerves are communicating with the muscles and sensing touch, pressure, pain, and temperature
    5. Special Tests – tests are performed to confirm or rule out the presence of possible problems
    6. Posture Assessment – the positions of joints and muscle mass relative to each other and an ideal will be assessed.​ ​

  • Assessment & Plan
    1. Findings of the evaluation will be discussed and you will be educated on the possible sources of the problem​
    2. ​​​A treatment plan will be discussed based on your goals and will include frequency of visits, exercise programs, modalities, and manual therapy treatments 
    3. Special Tests – tests are performed to confirm or rule out the presence of possible problems
    4. Posture Assessment – the positions of joints and muscle mass relative to each other and an ideal will be assessed.​
